George S. Patton

11 November, 1885 - 21 December, 1945

 

Patton's nick name was old blood and guts.

Patton was a U.S general in World War II. He was in several campaigns in World War II. He was in Operation Torch, Battle for Sicily, the liberation of France, and the Battle of the Bugle. He did not fight in Normandy.

Patton and Montgomery were rivals through out the war.

North Africa

In North Africa Patton was put in command of the American II corps after it's defeat at the Battle of the Kasserine pass.

Sicily

Patton was in command of 7th U.S army in the Battle for Sicily where he had a successful campaign.

France

Patton became commander of the 3rd U.S army in Normandy. He used the blitzkrieg tactics. After the break out he then surrounded ten of thousands of German soldiers. This became known as chamois pocket where all Germans were either captured or killed.

 

Battle of the Bulge

Patton played a key rule in the battle. He had the U.S 3rd army attack the southern German flank of the bugle. He pushed his way forward to relive Bastogne.
