Chester W. Nimitz

24 February, 1885 –20 February, 1966

Nimitz was an Admiral in World War II. He was the commander of all American navy forces in the Pacific.

Nimitz defeated the Japanese forces at the Battle of Midway and the Battle of the Coral Sea.

He invaded a number of islands; he even got his nickname "Island Hopper" for how many islands he invaded.

At end of the war he met with Japan high command and they signed the surrender on the Battleship Missouri.
