Günther von Kluge

30 October 1882 – 19 August 1944

 

Kluge was a Field Marshal in World War II. Kluge commanded forces in Poland, invasion of France, operation Barbarossa, and commanded western forces as Rundstedt's replacement.

In Poland, France, and in the begging of operation Barbarossa, kluge led the German fourth army.

Invasion of France

Kluge led the forth army through the Ardennes which contribute to the fall of France.

Operation Barbarossa

Kluge commanded the fourth army until late 1941, when he was promoted to command the army group center. He was injured in a car accident  in October 27 1943. Kluge didn’t return to his duty in Whermacht until July 1944.

 

Kluge came in command in July 1944. After the failed assassination on Hitler on July 20th 1944, which he was “some what involved”, he was called in Berlin to meet with Hitler. On ride there he committed suicide.
