1939 - Nineteen-Thirty-Nine

 15-16 March- The Czechoslovak Republic ceases to exist. The Germans occupy Bohemia-Morava.

 7 April- Italian troops occupy Albania.

 28 April- Hitler repeals the ten-year-old non-aggression pact made with Poland in 1934.

 20 May- The Spanish civil war ends in victory for Franco.

 22 May- Italian and German ministers conclude a pact alliance.

 23 August- Germany and USSR sighs a non aggression pact.

 25 August- Great Britain and France conclude a pact of mutual assistance.

 1 September- At 4:45 a.m. the German army crosses the Polish frontier. War breaks out.

 3 September- France and Great Britain enter the war against Germany.

 6 October- The last resistance is ended and the polish campaign is officially over

 27 October- Belgium proclaims it neutrality.

 30 November- The Russian army invades Finland.

 7 December- The fascist Grand council reaffirms Italian Non-belligerency.
